Lane College Volleyball Set to Open 2026 Season at Union University Invitational

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Lane College volleyball team is set to begin the 2026 season as the Dragons prepare to compete in the Union University Invitational on August 27-29 in Jackson, Tennessee.

Entering her second season as head coach, Jeannette Williams will lead a young Lane College squad into a challenging 2026 campaign. Williams will be joined by assistant coach Nylah Lloyd, a Memphis, Tennessee native, as the Dragons look to continue building the program and establish their identity on the court.

Lane enters the season with one returning student-athlete from last year's team, providing a veteran presence as the Dragons welcome a largely new roster. The limited returning experience will present an opportunity for the team to develop chemistry, establish new leadership and grow together throughout the season.

The Dragons were selected to finish 13th in the SIAC preseason poll, giving the team an opportunity to use the preseason expectations as motivation heading into the new campaign.

"We have a young team, but we are excited about the opportunity in front of us," said Lane College Head Volleyball Coach Jeannette Williams. "Every season presents a chance to grow, and our focus will be on building our team chemistry, competing with confidence and improving every time we step on the court. We know we have a challenging schedule ahead, but we are ready to embrace the work and represent Lane College and Dragon Nation."

Lane will open the season on Thursday, August 27, facing Union University at 6 p.m. at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, as part of the Union University Invitational. The Dragons will continue tournament play on August 28 against Upper Iowa University at 4 p.m. before closing the invitational on August 29 with two matches against Tusculum University at 11 a.m. and Auburn University Montgomery at 3 p.m.

Following the opening weekend, Lane will compete in another tournament at the SBU Invitational in Bolivar, Missouri, on September 4-5, facing East Central University, Drury University, Auburn University Montgomery and Southwest Baptist University. The Dragons will make their home debut on September 15, hosting Rust College at 5 p.m. inside J.F. Lane Gymnasium.

Lane's schedule will continue with several SIAC crossover events throughout September and October before the Dragons close the regular season with road contests against Kentucky State University, Central State University and LeMoyne-Owen College. The Dragons are scheduled to compete in the SIAC Championship Tournament on November 11 in Fort Valley, Georgia, with the specific opponent and time to be determined.

With a new-look roster, one returning student-athlete and a coaching staff entering its second season, Lane College volleyball enters 2026 with an opportunity to build a strong foundation and compete with determination throughout the season.

A new season. A new opportunity. The Dragons are ready to rise.
