Dragons outlast Bethel in five-set thriller

Jackson, Tenn. – The Lane College volleyball team battled through five intense sets to secure its first win of the season, outlasting Bethel University 3–2 inside J.F. Lane Gymnasium.

Set scores were 23–25, 31–29, 25–21, 22–25, 17–15, as the Dragons showed resilience in clutch moments, especially in the second and fifth sets.

Kyra Gaston led the offensive charge with a dominant 22 kills on .295 hitting, while adding 19 digs and two solo blocks for a match-high 24 points. She was joined by Jadyn Powell, who contributed 13 kills and 24 digs, delivering in critical moments to keep Lane alive.

Malaya Young added balance in the middle with 9 kills and 6 total blocks, while Wynter Hill stuffed the net with 4 solo blocks and 8 kills, proving to be a force defensively.

Setter Shaniah Jones orchestrated the attack with 47 assists while also chipping in 17 digs and two block assists. At the service line, Tyreanna Garrett made her presence felt with 3 aces and 7 kills in four sets of action.

As a team, the Dragons outhit Bethel .204 to .160 and finished with 10 total blocks to keep the Wildcats' hitters in check.
