JACKSON, Tenn. — The Lane College volleyball team battled back for a hard-fought five-set victory over LeMoyne-Owen (22-25, 25-16, 22-25, 25-20, 16-14) Friday evening inside J.F. Lane Gymnasium.
After dropping the opening set, Lane found its rhythm behind balanced offensive play and strong serving to claim the second frame, 25-16. LeMoyne-Owen regained momentum in the third, but the Dragons responded once again, winning the fourth set and carrying that energy into the decisive fifth.
In the final set, Lane held off a late rally from the Magicians to seal the 16-14 victory, fueled by clutch kills and steady defense.
Jadyn Powell powered the Dragons with a team-high 12 kills, hitting .333 and adding five service aces and 12 digs for a standout all-around performance. Kyra Gaston added 10 kills and four total blocks, while Malaya Young was efficient with nine kills on .467 hitting.
Setter Amya Bartlett directed the offense with 23 assists and three service aces, and Tyreanna Garrett chipped in seven kills and a team-high three block assists. Defensively, Kenzley Lowe anchored the back row with 14 digs, while Zamya Gibson added 15 digs and three aces.
As a team, Lane hit .190 with 51 kills, 15 service aces, and 10 total blocks, showing improvement in all phases down the stretch.
