With a coaching career spanning over two decades, Coach Williams brings passion, experience, and a winning tradition to the Lane College volleyball program. When she took the reins at ECSU she quickly made her mark—leading the team to an undefeated 10-0 record in the CIAA Northern Division and capturing the division title in her very first season. Her leadership also propelled the team to the 2023 CIAA Championship Tournament, where they finished as the tournament runner-up.
Her journey in volleyball began on the courts of New York City, where she coached in the Big Apple Games starting in 1994. This city-wide high school tournament helped shape her early coaching philosophy: fundamentals, hard work, and building athletes into leaders. In 2005, she transitioned into high school coaching at E.E. Smith High School, teaming up with long-term mentor Coach Hardy. For seven years, she helped mold young athletes both on and off the court.
Coach Williams made her mark in the collegiate ranks during a remarkable 12-year stint as assistant coach at Fayetteville State University under head coach Dr. Reeshemah Johnson. There, she was part of a powerhouse program that reached six CIAA Championship matches and captured three titles—including back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013, and another in 2019. Her time at FSU was defined by discipline, strategic growth, and commitment to building a championship culture.
Following her success at Fayetteville State, Coach Williams was named head coach at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU). At ECSU, she continued to raise the program’s profile, eventually earning the opportunity to lead Lane College's volleyball program.
Before entering the coaching world, Coach Williams was a standout player at the City College of New York. Her collegiate playing experience instilled a deep understanding of the game and a desire to stay close to it after her playing days concluded. That passion has never wavered.
Coach Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in Health Care Management, as well as a master’s degree in the same field. Her educational background complements her leadership on the court, helping her manage programs with professionalism and strategic insight.
With a coaching résumé built on excellence, consistency, and player development, Coach Williams is focused on building Lane College into a championship-caliber program.
“I am very excited to be a part of the Dragon Family and continuing to bring my knowledge and love for the game of volleyball,” said Williams. “My mission is to inspire excellence, push boundaries, and build a team culture rooted in unity, discipline, and belief.”
