Entering his second season at the helm, head coach Stanley Conner and the Dragons are ready to turn the page and build on the foundation established during his first season. Despite being picked to finish last in the SIAC preseason poll, Lane enters the season with an opportunity to challenge those expectations and write its own story throughout the 2026 campaign.

"We understand where people have us picked, but our focus is on what we can control," said Lane College Head Football Coach Stanley Conner. "Our players have put in the work throughout the offseason, and we're looking forward to seeing that preparation translate onto the field. Our goal is to compete every week, continue to grow as a team and represent Lane College and Dragon Nation the right way." 

The Dragons will be led by a defensive unit that returns one of the conference's top playmakers in Jeremiah Malbroue, who earned Preseason All-SIAC Second Team honors at defensive back. Malbroue was a key contributor for Lane's defense last season, leading the team with 54 tackles while recording one interception and four pass breakups. His experience and production will be vital as the Dragons look to establish a strong defensive identity this season.

With Malbroue anchoring the secondary and Conner entering his second season, Lane will look to continue developing its identity on both sides of the football while competing against a challenging SIAC schedule.

The Dragons will begin the season on the road against Bethel University (Tenn.) on Saturday, August 29, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. in McKenzie, Tennessee.

The Dragons will make their home debut on September 12, hosting Allen University (S.C.) at 4 p.m. for the "Our City. Our Team." Community Unity Kickoff. Lane will then remain at home for a September 19 matchup against Morehouse College, which will feature the "Boots on the Ground" Southern Culture Celebration. Lane's three-game home stretch continues September 26 against Central State University at 4 p.m. for Faith, Family, and Future Day.

With a combination of returning leadership, emerging talent and a full season of experience under Coach Conner, Lane enters 2026 with an opportunity to exceed expectations and create its own path.
