The Dragons' defense forced Morehouse to punt on its opening possession. After the Maroon Tigers scored midway through the first quarter, Lane responded with a major defensive play when Donovan Barnes intercepted Miles Scott at the Lane 20-yard line and returned the ball five yards.
The takeaway sparked a 10-play, 54-yard Lane drive that extended into the second quarter. Cameron Shepherd connected with Rkisch Hyppolite for gains of six and 15 yards, while Peyton Nero added a 15-yard run to help the Dragons reach the Morehouse 21. Lane's 38-yard field-goal attempt was unsuccessful, keeping the score at 7-0.
Morehouse added a second touchdown with 4:38 remaining in the half to take a 14-0 lead.
Lane threatened again during the final minute of the second quarter. Shepherd rushed for 10 yards before a Morehouse personal foul advanced the Dragons to the Maroon Tigers' 27-yard line. The drive ended with an interception near the goal line, sending Morehouse into halftime with a 14-0 advantage.
The Lane defense continued to compete after halftime. Morehouse began its first possession of the third quarter at the Dragons' 40-yard line, but Lane kept the Maroon Tigers out of the end zone and forced a 25-yard field goal.
Later in the quarter, Boris Melton III recorded a sack to end another Morehouse possession and give the ball back to the Dragons.
Lane then assembled its longest drive of the night, moving 65 yards on 11 plays. Shepherd completed passes to Hyppolite and Tametrius Pogue, while Nero broke free for a 20-yard gain. Shepherd followed with a 29-yard run that advanced the Dragons to the Morehouse 15-yard line.
The possession carried into the fourth quarter, but Lane's 30-yard field-goal attempt was blocked. Morehouse maintained a 17-0 lead with 13:32 remaining.
The Maroon Tigers pulled away during the closing minutes, scoring 27 points in the fourth quarter. The late run included an interception return for a touchdown and a punt return for a score, producing the 44-0 final.
Freshman quarterback Crishon Overton helped Lane generate another promising fourth-quarter drive. Overton rushed for a 13-yard first down and later connected with Pogue for a 30-yard completion. The Dragons moved 52 yards in nine plays before the possession ended on downs at the Morehouse 21.
Lane's defense finished with eight tackles for loss, two sacks, five pass breakups and an interception. Jeremiah Malbroue led the Dragons with nine tackles and one tackle for loss, while Cadarius Newcomb recorded eight tackles and one tackle for loss.
Offensively, Shepherd led Lane with 36 rushing yards, including a 29-yard gain. Nero added 35 yards on only two carries. Pogue caught three passes for a team-high 43 yards, and Hyppolite recorded three receptions for 34 yards.
Saturday's contest marked the first meeting between the programs at Lane Field since 2018. Following the result, Morehouse leads the documented all-time series 33-12-2 and has won five consecutive meetings.
