Justin Hill punching it in from four yards out to give the Dragons a 21-20 lead over host Benedict College late in the third quarter Saturday evening.
But the Dragons could not hold that lead as the Tigers outscored Lane College 10-0 in the final 10:21 to hand the Dragons their second loss of the season, 30-21.
Thurston Rubin Jr. threw for 178 yards, completing 14 of his 26 pass attempts.
Marcus Reynolds rushed for 71 yards on just eight attempts, averaging nearly nine yards per carry.
Omauri Hampton picked up 98 yards in the air including a 37-yard strike from Rubin on a crucial Third-and-6 on the Dragons first drive of the game that helped give Lane an early 7-0 lead. He also ran a kickoff return back for a 39-yard gain. Â
The Dragons are back in the cozy confines of Lane Field this Saturday as they host Clark-Atlanta University in the home opener for the Dragons. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.Â
