Fuquay-Varina, NC -​ Lane running back Ike Brown has been named HBCU National Player of the Week by BOXTOROW.
Brown, a sophomore from Shreveport, La., accumulated 137 yards of total offense on 20 touches and accounted for three scores in the Dragons 28-27 upset overtime win over Tennessee State. He scored on an 11-yard run in overtime and ran in the two-point conversion to win the game for the Dragons.

HBCU D2 Coaches Poll: VUU remains on top, Lane, VSU climb
Virginia Union is unbeaten and remains at the top of The HBCU Division II Coaches Poll powered by BOXTOROW. The Panthers received 21 first place votes.
Albany State received a first place vote to remain at No. 2, outpacing Benedict, who received two first place votes, by six points. Virginia State moved up one spot to No. 4, while despite its loss to Benedict, Fort Valley State dropped just one spot to No. 5
Lane made the most significant jump, up two spots to No. 7 after its 28-27 overtime victory over FCS opponent Tennessee State.
A matchup that could affect next week's poll features Virginia State hosting No. 6 Bowie State on Saturday.
