Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. (December 2, 2017) - Lady Dragons head coach
Kimberly Anderson stood up from her chair on the bench, applauding the play of her players. This is not unusual.Â
What makes it unusual is that it was five minutes before the start of the game.
Anderson saw what she has been stressing lately, playing like a team, playing hard on defense and talking to each other.
All of that translated to the game as Lane College picked up their first win of the season in resounding fashion on the road Saturday afternoon, knocking off Kentucky State University, 69-56, in a game that was not as close as the final score would indicate. The Lady Dragons led by as many as 25 in the fourth quarter in the road win Saturday afternoon after junior forward LaKeia Lane dropped in a fast break layup off her own steal with 3:25 left in the fourth quarter. She finished with a team-high 18 points. She also added four steals and five rebounds. Antrice McCoy also had four steals while dropping in 14 points.Â
Junior guard Kristy Armwood pulled in her first double-double of the season finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds, playing 32 of the 40 minutes in Saturday's win.
The Lady Dragons take on North Alabama University this Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in Florence, Ala.
