Bernstine was selected to the Preseason All-SIAC First Team, while Lain was named to the Preseason All-SIAC Second Team. The preseason honors were determined through voting by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors.
A senior guard from Richmond, California, Bernstine returns after averaging 12.5 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game last season. Her ability to contribute as a scorer, rebounder and facilitator has made her one of the conference's most consistent all-around performers.
Bernstine has received preseason and postseason conference recognition in each season since her sophomore year at Lane College. She was also identified by the SIAC as a returning member of the 2025–26 All-SIAC lineup. Her continued recognition reflects the consistency she has displayed throughout her collegiate career and the respect she has earned across the conference.
In addition to her scoring ability, Bernstine's production on the boards and willingness to create opportunities for her teammates have allowed her to make an impact in several areas of the game. As she enters her senior season, her experience and versatility will remain valuable assets for the Dragons.
Lain, a senior guard from Bryant, Arkansas, earned second-team preseason recognition after averaging 10.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game last season. Her scoring, defensive activity and veteran leadership have made her an important contributor for Lane. Lain's ability to apply defensive pressure and create turnovers complements her contributions on the offensive end of the floor. Her selection recognizes the dependable presence she provides in the Dragons' backcourt and the impact she has made on both sides of the ball.
Together, Bernstine and Lain give Lane College an experienced senior backcourt entering the 2026–27 campaign. Both student-athletes have developed into proven contributors during their time with the program and will be expected to provide leadership as the Dragons prepare for another season of SIAC competition. Having representatives on both preseason teams also highlights the individual accomplishments of the two seniors and the strength of Lane's returning roster. Their selections provide recognition for the work they have put in throughout their careers while setting the stage for their final season in a Lane College uniform.
