Box Score Dragons Baseball Come up Short on Atlanta Road Trip           Facing four games in two days will put a strain on any pitching staff. The Dragons found that out this weekend on a road trip to Atlanta, GA. In order to beat the West Tennessee weather the baseball team took on the task of playing four games in just two days. On Saturday the Dragons faced the Greyhounds from Eastern New Mexico University in game one and the Panthers of Clark-Atlanta University in game two. On Sunday the Dragons met the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College for a double header.
Game 1 Eastern New Mexico University (Saturday) Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The Dragons did not help themselves much as five miscues and only two hits lead to the 16-0 defeat to the Greyhounds. The Greyhounds scored seven runs in the bottom of the first inning as the Dragons gave up five unearned runs off errors. For the Greyhounds Daniel Ward did most of the damage as he connected for a game high three home-runs and added five Rbi's.

Robert Love IV took the loss for the Dragons pitching five complete innings allowing 16 hits, 15 runs (5 unearned), while striking out two batters. For the Dragons (Freshman)

Game 2 Clark-Atlanta University (Saturday)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The Dragons had more than their share of miscues again allowing the Panthers to score eight unearned runs in the 12-2 defeat.

Robert Akines took the mound for the Dragons pitching four innings and allowing only three hits. He also walked four batters and struck out four others. The Dragons bats were a bit better as
Marvin Stewart Jr. and
LaReko Flowers each collected 2 hits in 4 at-bats.
Blair Dukes and
Brandon Houston each had hits for extra bases (2B).
Game 3 Morehouse College (Sunday)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The Dragons were hoping a different day and a different location would change the miscue curse that they had on Saturday. The Maroon Tigers used a big third inning in game one to take the lead and not look back. Scoring eight runs in the bottom of the third gave them the lead that would carry them to the 17-3 victory.
           Blair Duke was charged with the loss for the Dragons pitching three innings allowing twelve hits and four base-on-balls.

Game 4 Morehouse College (Sunday) Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â The Dragons took the lead in the top of the second inning scoring four runs before the Maroon Tigers answered with four of their own in the bottom of the inning. The Maroon Tigers added seven more in the bottom of the third inning to take a 17-7 victory over the Dragons.

Brandon Houston took the loss in relief of
Charles Gray as he pitched three innings allowing eight hits, five walks while striking out two batters. Leading the Dragons in hitting was Robert love IV (2for3 1-double),
Keion Allen and
Chris Drake collected the other hits.
           The Dragons will be back in action with another road trip to Selma, AL for contest with Selma University and Concordia College on Feb. 19 & 20.
