            The Lady Dragons took to the road for the third time this week to pick up their first victory of the season. After falling to NCAA Division 1 Jackson State University (57-52), and (52-47) to Trevecca University the Lady Dragons collected the (69-66) victory over the Lady Choctaws of Mississippi College.

            Breaking it down:  The Lady Dragons outscored the Lady Choctaws in three of the four quarters and was able to connect on key free throws to hold on for the victory. In the second half the Lady Dragons had built their largest lead of the game (50-41) only to see it disappear. At 6:17 left to play the Lady Choctaws took the lead for the first time with a (58-53) score. Over the next five minutes the Lady Dragons went on an 8-3 run to tie the game at 61 with 1:49 to play. With eight seconds left the Lady Dragons connected on a jumper for a 67-63 lead. The Choctaws blasted a long range 3-pointer for a 67-66 score and immediately fouled Niya Royal. With two seconds left, and the clock stopped Royal connected on both free throws for a 69-66 lead. A desperation long range 3-pointer bounced off the rim and the Lady Dragons secured the victory.

            By the numbers: The Lady Dragons out rebounded the Lady Choctaws 47-43 including 19 offensive rebounds which led to second chance points. Tashara Jones collected a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Addie McNeely and ShaDa Nolen each added 8 points to help with the scoring effort. Niya Royal collected seven rebounds for the Lady Dragons.  

            Back in Action: The Lady Dragons (1-3) will travel across town to play the Union University Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday November 22. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM.
