The Lane College Lady Dragons took to the basketball court on Saturday in search of their first victory of the season. At halftime, the Claflin University Lady Panthers (9-3 3-1 SIAC) led 34-17. However, in basketball two halves are played. In the second half, the Lady Dragons battled all the way to the final buzzer sounded to fall short 55-54. Maybe a victory on the court slipped through their hands, but a victory for not giving up was well deserved.

The Lady Panthers out rebounded the Lady Dragons 46-38, which led to several second chance points for the Lady Panthers. Uniqua Mitchell led the scoring for the Lady Panthers with 17.  Karahan Scott added 13 points and six rebounds to help the Lady Panthers to the victory. The Lady Dragons, who were 14-for-25 from the foul line, was led in scoring by Crystal Rayford with 14 points and 17 rebounds for her double-double. Chloe Roberts dropped in 11 points.

The Lady Dragons will be back in SIAC action on Monday as they host the Lady Panthers from Clark Atlanta University. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM at the J. F. Lane Gymnasium.
