ATLANTA--The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced its football players of the week for the sixth installment of the 2013 SIAC Football Season as voted by the SIAC Sports Information Directors Association.

Lane College senior quarterback Chris Rini was selected as SIAC Offensive Player of the Week after leading his team to a 37-31 victory over Albany State University. After a career day, Kentucky State sophomore Eric Rawls was named SIAC Defensive Player of the Week.

Tuskegee University freshman running back Hoderick Lowe was named SIAC Newcomer of the Week, after a stellar performance on national television in Tuskegee's 54-10 win over Morehouse College on Bounce TV. Offensive Lineman of the Week was awarded to Clark Atlanta University senior offensive guard Evans Joseph and Special Teams Player of the Week was awarded to Stillman College junior kick returner Dondre Purnell.



Offensive Player of the Week


Chris Rini, Quarterback, Lane

Class: Senior Height: 6-4 Weight: 189 Hometown: Key Largo, Fla.

The senior posted a season high 350 yards passing and three touchdowns in Lane's 37-31 victory over Albany State over the weekend. The SIAC's top quarterback completed 29 of 42 passes and also rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown, totaling 409 yards. He also connected on a 36 yard field goal. Rini is the current leader in passing yards and touchdowns.



Defensive Player of the Week


Eric Rawls, Defensive Back, Kentucky State

Class: Sophomore Height: 6-3 Weight: 180 Hometown: Pompono Beach, FL

The sophomore had a spectacular day completing a hat-trick performance of three interceptions, including a 42-yard return for a score to break the game wide-open in the second quarter.


Newcomer of the Week

Hoderick Lowe, Running Back, Tuskegee



Class: Freshman Height: 5-9 Weight: 180 Hometown: Atlanta, GA

The freshman had a impressive day racking up 211 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns (3 rushing, 1 receiving) in Tuskegee's 54-10 victory over Morehouse College. The Atlanta, GA native had nine carries for 75 yards on the ground, three catches for 93 yards receiving, and 43 additional kickoff return yards.



Offensive Lineman of the Week

Evans Joseph, Offensive Guard, Clark Atlanta


Class: Senior Height: 6-2 Weight:300 Hometown: Homestead, Fla.

The guard was the premier blocker for the Panthers rushing attack that racked up 591 yards and eight rushing touchdowns in the Panthers 56-0 win over College of the Faith.



Special Teams Player of the Week


Dondre Purnell, Kickoff Returner, Stillman

Class: Senior Height: 5-10 Weight: 185 Hometown: Powder Springs, GA

The electrifying return man broke the game wide-open with a 97 yard kickoff return for a score to help Stillman to a 35-21 win over Benedict on its homecoming.


Other Notable Performances in Week 6


Bre'Nard Williams, Linebacker, Clark Atlanta
The All-Conference linebacker had a game-high 10 tackles, two sacks, and an interception in Saturday's win over College of the Faith.

Gregory Moore, Wide Receiver, Lane
The senior receiver, who is leading the conference in yards and touchdown receptions, had eight catches for 171 yards and a touchdown in the Dragons 37-31 win over Albany State.

Rashad Burkette, Quarterback, Tuskegee
In his first start of the season, Burkette completed 12-of-19 passes for 247 yards and a touchdowns, while leading Tuskegee to a 54-10 victory over Morehouse

Aaron Bennett, Defensive End, Tuskegee
The defensive lineman was a force to be reckon with, sacking Morehouse quarterbacks four times in Tuskegee's dominating win over the Maroon Tigers.

Thomas Wolfe, Defensive Back, Fort Valley State
The SIAC leader in interceptions (5) had two picks, returning one for a 34 yard score.

Frank Rivers, Quarterback, Albany State
Rivers completed 21-for-31 passes for 284 yards and two touchdowns in Albany State's loss to Lane.
Michael Wilson, Quarterback, Central State
Had 15 rushes for 120 yards 1 TD and was 5-7 passing for 63 yards and TD for a 25-21 victory over Miles College.

Justin Wood-West, Defensive End, Central State
Had 7.5 tackles including four tackle for loss for 13 yards and two sacks for 5 yards, while leading Central State to its first homecoming win since the program return in 2005.

Jorden Paige, Defensive End, Central State
The junior had 7.5 tackles including 3 TFL for 29 yards and two sacks for 11 yards in Central State's 25-21 win over Miles College.
