Cross Country place third at Freed-Hardeman

HENDERSON, Tenn. - Lane College turned in a gritty performance on both the men's and women's sides at the recent cross country meet, with multiple top-10 individual finishes and strong team showings.

Women's Race

The Dragons placed 3rd overall in the team standings, led by an outstanding effort from Cynthia Koech, who crossed the line in 23:47 to take runner-up honors.

She was closely supported by teammates:

The Dragons packed three runners inside the top 15, with Koech setting the tone up front. Despite battling attrition—three athletes (Cynthia Kipkorir, Teonia Whitelow, and others) were forced to a DNF—the women showcased resilience and depth to secure their podium finish.

Men's Race

On the men's side, Lane finished 3rd overall as a team, fueled by two top-10 performances.

Though top runner Victor Kiprotich was unable to finish, the Dragons still managed to edge out Jackson State for third thanks to the strong front-end performances of Kimaiyo and Kiprop.

Summary

It was a day of both highlights and challenges for Lane College. The women showcased leadership up front through Cynthia Koech's runner-up finish, while the men proved their strength with two top-10 finishers in Kimaiyo and Kiprop.
