BRISTOL, Conn. | ESPN analyst Jordan Reid has named his HBCU preseason top 50 prospect rankings for the 2023 NFL draft and two members of the Lane College football team are included.
Edge defender Andrew Farmer checks in at number eight on the list and is the highest ranking player from the SIAC and second highest rated player from NCAA Division II.
8. Andrew Farmer II, EDGE, Lane College
HT:Â 6-foot-3 |Â WT:Â 250 |Â Class:Â Senior
"One opposing head coach said Farmer has a strong case as one of the top under-the-radar small-school prospects in the country. Coming off a 19 tackle-for-loss, 11.5-sack season, Farmer was voted the SIAC preseason Defensive Player of the Year. He understands how to get to the quarterback and has a knack for creating disruption in the backfield."
Wide receiver and return specialist Anthony Evelyn comes in at number 48. The Atlantic Beach, Fla. native was named preseason First Team All-SIAC at both positions.
HT:Â 5-foot-9 |Â WT:Â 165 |Â Class:Â Senior
"Evelyn is electrifying in multiple areas for the Dragons, as the return specialist and receiver's 1,624 all-purpose yards led the SIAC last season. His speed and ability to create explosive plays have remained consistent throughout his career."
Lane College will kickoff the season this Saturday when they travel to take on the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Game time is 6:00 PM and can be watched on the UAPB Sports Network.
