JACKSON, Tenn. (November 25, 2017) - Sometimes, the final score doesn't tell the entire story.

Thus was the case Saturday afternoon as the Lady Dragons fell in their conference opener, 59-38, to Claflin University at JF Lane Gymnasium.

Trailing by 13 coming out of the locker room, Lane College slowly began to chip away at the Lady Panthers' lead, eventually cutting it to four with 1:48 left in the third quarter thanks to a lay up from junior guard Antrice McCoy.

But the Lady Dragons' shooting went cold at that point, and the Lady Panthers were able to pick up a convincing win.

Junior guard Kristy Armwood flirted with her first double-double of the season, leading all Lady Dragons in scoring, dropping in 10 points and eight rebounds. She also had an assist, a block and a steal in 32 minutes of play.

Senior center Ashley Gayle had a game-high nine rebounds in the contest.

The Lady Dragons are back in action Monday when they host Benedict College at JF Lane Gymnasium. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
