Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. (October 28, 2017) - The Lane College football team took a lead into the locker room at halftime, but struggled offensively in the second half, falling at home to visiting Kentucky State, 32-5, Saturday afternoon at Lane Field.
Trailing 3-0 in the first half,
Vicente Luis Juan Pena connected on a 37-yard field goal, 45 seconds into the second quarter, to tie it up. Brayce McKinzie forced an intentional grounding call on the Thorobred quarterback in the end zone as time expired in the first half, giving KSU a safety to give Lane College a 5-3 advantage. McKinzie led the team with 11 tackles, eight unassisted with a solo sack.
But the Dragons struggled on offense in the second half as the Thorobreds steadily built on their lead.
Running back
Marcus Holliday finished with 79 yards rushing including a 25-yard run. Holliday averaged 4.6 yards per carry in the game. Quarterback
Marcus Reynolds gained 50 yards on the ground.
Thurston Rubin went 12-of-15 in the air including a 25-yard strike to wide receiver
Micah Grigsby.Â
The final game of the regular season is this Saturday as the Dragons host Central State at Lane Field. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
