           The Dragons opened conference play with two big victories during the holiday break. On Saturday night the Dragons played their first home game of the season and came away with an 80-74 victory over the Panthers of Clark-Atlanta University. The Dragons defeated the Maroon Tigers from Morehouse College for their second home victory with a 97-84 score.

Breaking it down:
           Both teams were coming into action after several days off due to the holiday break. The time off was reflected in the 29-29 halftime score. The Dragons outscored the Panthers in the second half 51-45 to finish the game with a victory.  The Panthers scored the first five points in the second half for a 34-29 early in the second half. Both teams took turns leading the game as they tied the score six times during the action.
Terrance Bridgeman connected on two free throws at the 3:33 mark that gave the Dragons the lead for the final time.

By The Numbers:
           The Dragons out rebounded the Panthers 41-27 (17 offensive) in the contest which lead to 22 second chance points. The Panthers connected on 21 of 60 shots for a 35% rate while the Dragons shot 43.9% (25-57). Both teams connected on the free throws as the Panthers shot 80.6% (25-31) and the Dragons 81.8% (27-33). Leading the Panthers was Lawerence Triplett with 20 points and 10 rebounds. For the Dragons

 The Dragons will host the Maroon Tigers from Morehouse College on Monday January 2, 2017. Tip-off  is scheduled for 3 PM at the Oman Arena in Jackson, TN.
