            If action is what you want from your college football experience, this was the game for you. The Dragons of Lane College and the Lions of Langston University battled to a 46-44 final score in the "Black Wall Street Classic" played in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The Dragons used a strong second half to pull off the come from behind victory over the Lions. The Dragons are off to a 3-0 start for the 2016 season with the victory.

            The first half of action accounted for 36 of the total 90 points score as the Dragons trailed 23-13 going into halftime. The Dragons defense stopped the Lions on a 4th down play from the 31-yard line to set up the first score of the game. Rodney Willingham scooted 21-yards for the touchdown as the extra point was missed for Dragons 6-0 early lead.  The Lions answered the score with a 27-yard field goal from Jaun Carpio. The Lions added two touchdowns to the score in the 1st quarter for a 16-6 lead at the end of one quarter of play. Mid-way of the second quarter the Lions extended their lead with another touchdown to take a 23-6 lead. The Dragons responded on their last series of the first half as Marcus Reynolds connected with Omari Hampton for a 21-yard touchdown sending everyone to half time with a 23-13 score for the Lions.

            The second half started with the Lions Kievon Jackson pushing the ball across the goal line for a 30-13 lead early in the 3rd quarter. The next Lions series might have been the turning point in the game for the Dragons. As the Lions were driving for what might have been another touchdown the ball was fumbled on the Lane 12 yard line. Dragons Malik Thompson scooped the ball up and returned it 68 yards setting the Dragons up in the Red Zone at the Lions 20 yard line. After a one yard loss on the next play, QB Marcus Reynolds dialed his own number for a 21-yard jog into the end zone. Raul Martinez added the extra point cutting into the lead with a 30-20 score. The Dragons added another touchdown on the next series as Marcus Holliday handled most of the offense on that drive collecting a total of 45 yards rushing including the one-yard touchdown run. The extra point was good for a score of 30-27 sending the game to the final quarter of the game.

            The Lions responded with a score early in the 4th quarter as Mark Wright scored from one yard for a 37-27 lead. On the next series Marcus Holliday continued to take the Dragons down the field as he collected another 50 yards on this series. His touchdown run came from 25 yards out and the extra point was missed for a 37-33 lead for the Lions. Holliday continued to eat up yards for the Dragons on the next series as he broke free for a big gainer of 50 yards. Marcus Reynolds put the Dragons back in the lead for the first time since the opening drive of the game with a six yard touchdown run. The extra point was added making the score 40-37 for the Dragons. The defensive unit for the Dragons shut the Lions down on four plays allowing the Dragons to take possession of the ball for their final touchdown. Marcus Reynolds finished off the scoring drive with a one yard plunge and the extra point was missed for a 46-37 lead. The Lions scored their last touchdown and the end of the game for a final score of 46-44 victory for the Dragons.

            Marcus Holliday led the Dragons offense with 214 yards on 19 carries and two touchdowns. Holliday was also named the "Iron Man" player of the game by the members of the Black Wall Street Classic. Marcus Reynolds added 67 yards rushing with three touchdowns and 87 yards passing and a touchdown. Omari Hampton was the leading receiver hauling in three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. Defensively for the Dragons Whitney Richardson collected ten total tackles and three sacks for a total of 31 yards loss.

            The Dragons are now 3-0 and will travel to Tuskegee, Alabama to take on the Golden Tigers who is also 3-0 on the season. This will be the first SIAC divisional contest of the season for the Dragons. The kick-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Tuskegee.
