Dragons Advance to the Semi-Finals of the SIAC Tournament

The Lane College Dragons (#3 seed from the Western Division) have now advanced to the semi-finals of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference basketball tournament. The Dragons defeated Albany State (88-80) on Tuesday night and took a 62-59 victory over the #2 seeded Morehouse Tigers on Thursday night to move to the next round.

(#6E) Albany State University:
In the opening round of the SIAC tournament, the Dragons faced the Golden Rams of Albany State University. The Dragons came out shooting 54% (18 of 26) in the first half to take a 50-40 lead into halftime. The second half saw the Golden Rams outscore the Dragons 40-38, but it was not enough to catch the Dragons in the end.
The Dragons had four players reach double-digit points with Brandon Zackery leading the way with 19,,,hitting 7 of  9 shots from the field including 3 of 4 from three-point land. Terrance Bridgeman dropped in 18 points while Rodney Clarke added 14 and Malcolm McDonald finished with 12.

(#2E) Morehouse College:
The Dragons had revenge in their heads as they faced the Maroon Tigers of Morehouse College. Back in January, the Dragons suffered an 83-70 loss in Atlanta during regular season action. On Thursday night, the low scoring game was still packed with excitement as the Dragons held on in the end for the 62-59 victory.
The Dragons won the battle of the boards 44-38, which led to 17 second chance points for the Dragons. The Dragons also capitalized on turnovers as they scored 12 points off 21 turnovers for the Maroon Tigers. The Dragons connected on 24 of 64 shots (37.5%) but were helped from the charity stripe dropping in 12 of 23 shots (52.2%).
Kendarius Ash added to his conference leading Double-Double stats by leading the Dragons in scoring with 19 points while collecting 12 rebounds.
The Dragons will now face the (#1W) Stillman Tigers in the semi-finals on Friday night. The Dragons will come in again with revenge as the Tigers defeated the Dragons 92-67 on February 11 in Tuscaloosa.
