ATLANTA – Duby Maduegbunam (Morehouse) was named the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week along with Montez Williams (Lane) who was selected as the Newcomer of the Week, announced on Dec. 12 by the conference office.
 
Maduegbunam led the Maroon Tigers (6-2 overall, 1-0 SIAC) to their fourth straight win after defeating Lane 80-74 on Dec. 10. He led all players in scoring (26) and rebounds (14). His 26 points were a career-high and helped Morehouse overcome a 16-point second half deficit. Maduegbunam, a 6'5 forward from Boston, Mass. was 7-of-13 (53.8 percent) from the field and finished with three assists, two steals, and a block. Morehouse visits LeMoyne-Owen on Dec. 31 for a SIAC contest set to tip at 7 p.m.
 
The Dragons (4-5, 1-1) split a pair of conference games last week where Williams averaged 16 points and seven rebounds. In a 70-60 win over Paine, Williams recorded 14 points and six rebounds. The 6'7 forward from East St. Louis, Mo. was 7-of-9 from the floor and finished with a pair of assists and a block. Against Morehouse, Williams scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He also finished with a game-high three blocks. Lane returns back to action on Dec. 18 when they visit Tampa for a non-conference matchup at 5:30 p.m.
