Box Score Big Victory in Florence for the Dragons

The Dragons walked away with a big victory on Saturday night as they defeated the Lions of the University of North Alabama 82-78 in overtime. For the second straight game of the week the Dragons played south regional opponents that were 3-0 coming into the contest. On Wednesday night the Dragons defeated the Bulldogs from Union University before the victory over the Lions.
Breaking it Down: The Dragons trailed the Lions 35-25 going into halftime. They responded in the second half to outscore the Lions 40-30 to tie the game 65-all at the end of regulation. In overtime the Dragons connected on 5 of 7 shots plus finished 6 of 12 from the free throw line to outscore the Lions 17-13 in overtime. The regional victory now has the Dragons at 3-3 as they head into conference play next weekend.
By the Numbers: The Dragons scored 14 points on turnovers which were helped by eight steals by the Dragon defense. They also won the battle of the boards collecting 56 rebounds to the Lions 48. This led to 22 second chance points and 40 points scored in the paint for the Dragons. The Dragons connected on 19 of 37 free throws in the game for a 51.4% rating. Leading the Dragons were

Back in Action: The Dragons continue their road trip as they start conference play on December 3 with a trip to Orangeburg, SC to take on the Panthers of Claflin University. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
