Box Score Dragons Suffer Heart Breaking Defeat

For the third week in a row the Dragons took to the road for their next football contest. The Dragons planned to get back on track after experiencing their first defeat of the season last week against Tuskegee University. The Blue Tigers of Lincoln University had different plans for the Dragons. The offense for both teams struggled as only one touchdown was scored in the game. The Blue Tigers relied on the leg of their kicker as he connected on 4 of 5 field goals on the day to lead the Blue Tigers to a 12-9 victory.

st Quarter:
The Dragons controlled the time of possession in the first quarter using up almost nine minutes of the first quarter clock. The only score for the quarter came with 7:25 left in the quarter as the Blue Tigers connected with a 47-yard field goal from Alex Templeton for a 3-0 lead to end the quarter.

nd Quarter:
The Blue Tigers added another field goal at the 11:25 mark of the second quarter as Templeton connected from 24 yards to extend the lead 6-0. The Dragons defensive unit stopped the next drive as the snap for another field goal attempt was missed-handled on fourth down. The Dragons started their drive from the nine yard line after the turn over.
Rodney Willingham moved the ball to the 17 yard line on his rushing carry.
Marcus Reynolds gained 11-yards on a quarterback-keeper to move the ball to the 28 yard line. Reynolds then connected with
Ahmad Isaac for four yards moving the ball to the 32 yard line. The Dragons scored on the next play as
Marcus Reynolds' sprinted 68-yards for the touchdown.
Raul Martinez added the extra point to put the Dragons up 7-6 with 5:57 to play in the first half. Neither team could mount an attack so the Dragons carried the lead to halftime.

rd Quarter:
The Dragons added a safety to extend the lead to 9-6 as
Carlas Moore Jr. punted to the half- yard line, pinning the Blue Tigers deep in their own territory. On the next play
Cameron Brown broke through to tackle the runner in the end zone for a Dragons safety.

th Quarter:
The Blue Tigers tied the game with 4:20 left to play. Templeton connected for his third field-goal of the game from 38 yards for a 9-9 score. With the clock down to 23 seconds, the Dragons'
Ray Taylor broke through for a quarterback sack forcing a long-range field goal attempt for the Blue Tigers. As time expired, Templeton once again connected for his fourth field goal from 54-yards giving the Blue Tigers the 12-9 victory.
Marcus Reynolds collected 103 yards rushing (1TD) and 42 yards passing to lead the Dragons offense.
Carlas Moore Jr. punted 11 times for 373 yards including the 53 yard punt mentioned earlier.
Brandon Miller led the defensive unit in tackles with nine.
Whitney Richardson collected two quarterback sacks while Will Lacy Jr and
Kenneth Williams collected interceptions.
The Dragons host the Tigers of Benedict College for Homecoming 2016 on October 8. Kick-off from Lane Field is scheduled for 2 PM.
