Box Score On January 16, 2016, the Lane College Men's basketball team defeated LeMoyne-Owen College by a score of 81-78. The victory put the Dragons on a three game win streak, and moving them up in the SIAC standings. The over flow crowd packed J. F. Lane gymnasium to watch the big conference rivalry contest. Both teams have had a similar season, as the Magicians came into the contest with an 8-8 overall record and 5-2 in the conference.
 The Magicians came out and played with intensity as five Magician players scored double-digits in the game. Rashawn Brown led the Magicians with 18 points and 6 rebounds, but it was not enough to stop the Dragons from being victorious. Going into the locker room at half time, the Dragons were trailing by 5 points (41-36).
 The half time pep talk by coach Basemore encouraged the Dragons to rally back against rival LeMoyne-Owen. Senior center
Joseph Cooper had his best career night for the Dragons collecting 26 points to lead all scoring.
Terrance Bridgeman dropped in13 points while
Kendarius Ash collected another double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Â "Saturday's contest was not about just one player, but a team effort. Our reserve players came in and brought a much needed spark,"Â stated coach Basemore. The Dragons scored 23 points from players coming off the bench.
The Dragons will be back in action on January 21, with a road trip to Tuskegee, AL to take on the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University. They will also make a stop in Birmingham, AL for another SIAC contest against the Golden Bears of Miles College on January 23. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 3 PM.
