Terrance Ayers connected with
Omari Hampton for 61 yards and a touchdown. The extra point kick by Carlas Moore, Jr. made it 7-0 at the 5:10 mark of the 1
st quarter. The Hornets answered the scoring drive with an 11-yard touchdown run from JaMarious Tillman, and the extra point kick tied the score at 7-7 with 1:14 showing on the clock in the first quarter.
The second quarter went scoreless for both teams until the Hornets connected on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Jarvis Chambers to DeAngelo Stewart. The extra point kick with three seconds left in the first half gave the Hornets a 14-7 lead.
Coming out in the second half, the Dragons closed the gap as Carlas Moore, Jr. connected on a 37-yard field goal with 8:57 in the third quarter for a 14-10 score. On the kick-off, Moore drilled the kick three yards deep into the end zone, and the runner decided to run it out. The Dragons' coverage was able to stop the return and create a fumble, with the Dragons recovering the ball on the five yard line. Two plays later, back-up quarterback
Marcus Reynolds shot around the left side from five yards for the go ahead touchdown for the Dragons. Moore added the extra point for a 17-14 lead and final score for the Dragons victory.
The Dragons defense was tough all day as they only allowed 126 yards of total offense for the Hornets.
Gabriel Mass anchored the defensive unit for the Dragons leading the team with 10.5 total tackles, four of which were loss of yardage for 16 yards. Offensively,
Terrance Ayers connected on 3-of-12 passes for 85 yards, including the touchdown toss to Hampton.
Marcus Reynolds collected 28 yards rushing including a touchdown, and 22 yards passing in the game.
The Dragons will travel to Fort Valley, Georgia for the next contest on September 12 as they take on the Wildcats from Fort Valley State University.
