Dragons Stay at the Top of the Western Division

The Dragons picked up two big wins at home to find themselves standing at the top of the SIAC Western Division. The Dragons are currently 8-8 overall and 7-3 in conference play. On Saturday, the Dragons defeated the Badgers of Spring Hill College 62-56, and followed that up with a 64-54 victory over the Golden Tigers of Tuskegee University.

The Dragons outscored the Badgers in the low-scoring first half, going into halftime with a 27-23 lead. The second half was not much better on the scoring as the Dragons managed to outscore the Badgers 35-33 for the 62-56 victory. The Dragons out rebounded the Badgers 32-31 for the game. On the night, the Dragons shot 41.5% (22-53) from the field, including 6 of 12 from the three-point area. On the line, the Dragons connected on12 of 18 for 66.7%

The dynamic duo of Donald Stewart and Terrance Bridgeman led the Dragons in scoring, with Stewart collecting 25 points followed by 17 from Bridgeman. For the Badgers, the high scorers were Jarrett Calhoun with 17 points, while Jack Morrissey added 12.
 
On Monday night at J. F. Lane Gymnasium, the Dragons defeated the Golden Tigers from Tuskegee University 64-54. The Dragons scored the first points of the game and maintained the lead from start-to-finish. The Dragons outscored the Golden Tigers in each half of the game with a 28-22 lead at intermission, followed by a 36-32 run in the second half. With 7:52 showing on the clock in the second half, the Dragons had pushed their lead to 16 points 54-38.

The Golden Tigers placed four of their players in double digits, led by David Alexander with 15. Camden Foster collected 13, while Elijah McMillian and Graham Olatunji added 12 and 11 points each. The Dragons connected on 15-of-21 shots from the free throw line for a 71.4% performance. Leading the scoring for the Dragons was Donald Stewart with 21, while Terrance Bridgeman scored 20. Joseph Cooper added 12 big points and led the Dragons in rebounds with eight.

The Dragons travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama for their next SIAC Basketball action as they take on the Tigers from Stillman College on February 2.
