The Dragons took to the court looking to rebound after a 66-58 loss to Morehouse College on Thursday night. On Saturday, the 504 fans in attendance got their money's worth. After watching the Lady Dragons fall 55-54 to the Lady Panthers in game one of the afternoon.
Donald Stewart dropped the final bucket with a bank shot off the glass with 1.3 seconds left to put the Dragons ahead for the 55-53 victory over the Panthers. With the victory the Dragons improve to 4-6 overall and 3-1 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic conference (SIAC).
The Panthers carried a slim 29-28 lead into halftime only to be out-scored in the second half by the Dragons 27-24. Trailing by one point, the Panthers' Karee Watson connected on one-of-two free throws with eleven seconds left to tie the score 53-53.
Donald Stewart drove the length of the court getting around his defender to connect with the bank shot for the 2 points that sent the Dragons to victory.
The Panthers had three players finish with double-digits, led by Adolph Caldwell with 15. Ryan McNeil-Moses scored 10 points and collected nine rebounds. Patrell Rogers added 10 points for the Panthers.
Terrance Bridgeman, coming off of being selected as the SIAC Player of the Week, led the scoring for the Dragons, collecting 19 points to include a crowd-pleasing alley-oop slam dunk.
Donald Stewart dropped in 14 points and collected nine rebounds, while Brandon Zachery also dropped in ten points for the Dragons.Â
The Dragons look to continue the win streak on Monday night as they host the Panthers from Clark-Atlanta at J F Lane Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
