Bombs Away! Lady Dragons Defeat the Lady Tigers
Tuscaloosa, AL –The Lane College Lady Dragons used the three-point shot to pick up a conference win with a 99-90 victory over the Stillman College Lady Tigers.
Tiffany Martin had the hot hand for the Lady Dragons, connecting on 4-of-8 from behind the 3-point line to lead the Lady Dragons scoring with 25 points. SeQoya Cox added another 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Dragons. Crystal Rayford picked up another double-double night with 15 points and 16 rebounds. Ciera White was 3-of-6 from the 3-point line to finish with 12 points, while Sharon Morgan connected on 3-of-5 for 11 points.
The Lady Dragons came out firing at the opening tipoff as Tiffany Martin connected with a trey with 18:52 on the clock to give the Lady Dragons the first lead of the game. The Lady Dragons outscored the Lady Tigers by ten points in the first half to carry a 58-48 lead into the halftime break. In the second half, the Lady Tigers went on a 15-2 run in the open minutes to take over the lead 63-60 with 15:41 left in regulation. The Lady Dragons got their second win and battled back to force a 73-73 tie game with 9:51 on the clock. Martin connected on another three-point shot with 4:46 left on the clock for a Lady Dragons 88-83 lead. Timely free throw shooting was the key down the stretch for the Lady Dragons as they connected on 14-of-21 free throws in the second half for the 99-90 final score.
The Lady Dragons are back in action on Saturday, February 22, as they travel to Tuskegee, AL to take on the Golden Tigerettes. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
