Lady Dragons Defeat Lady Bulldogs

The Lady Dragons claimed their first victory of the season by defeating the Lady Bulldogs from Selma University 66-52. The Lady Dragons jumped out to a 15-point lead (22-7) with 5:19 left on the game clock. The Lady Bulldogs were able to cut into the lead before going to halftime trailing 28-19.

The early part of the second half was a back-and-forth battle as both teams swapped baskets until the Lady Dragons went on a 12-7 run to extend the lead back to 14 points. With eight minutes left in the game, the Lady Dragons extended their lead to 22 points as SeQoya Cox drained a jumper from the free-throw line.

Sharon Morgan connected on 3 of 6 from the three-point area to lead the Lady Dragons in scoring with 17 points. Tiffany Martin and SeQoya Cox each added 11, and Crystal Rayford collected 15 rebounds in the victory.

The Lady Dragons host the lady Thoroughbreds from Kentucky State on Feb15, which is Senior Recognition Day. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM at J F Lane Gymnasium.
