Dragons Fall in Overtime to Stillman Tigers

Box Score The Dragons had to wait until the last few seconds of regulation to send the game into overtime. With the Dragons trailing much of the game, the pressure was put on Freshman Guard Kelsey Eubanks with 12 seconds left in regulation. Eubanks stepped to the free throw line needing to make one of two shots to tie the game. With the swish of the nets on the first shot, the game was tied 74-74. A missed second shot sent the game into overtime where the Tigers outscored the Dragons 12-9 for an 86-83 victory.

The Dragons came out from halftime down 43-36, but were able to keep the pressure on for a fast and furious second half. At the 9:41 mark, Eubanks nailed a jumper that gave the Dragons the lead for the first time. The Dragons extended the lead to a six-point advantage, before the Tigers made their comeback to take a 74-73 lead with only seconds to play. Eubanks then connected on his foul shot…sending the game into overtime.

The Tigers had four players reach double digit scores with Markeith Madison leading the way with 23 points. The Dragons placed six players in the double digit column with Kelsey Eubanks leading with 18. Tony Payne added 16 while Jeremy Whitmore dropped in 14. Bryant Hill and Georgio Alexander both finished with 12 points, and Sha'Mar Nolen collected 11 points. The Dragons also had three players collect double digit rebounds with Georigo Alexander leading the attack with 18; Bryant Hill collected 11; and Eubanks added 10.

The Dragons will continue the home stand as they host the Golden Tigers from Tuskegee University on Jan. 20. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM at the J F Lane Gymnasium.
