The Golden Tigers from Tuskegee University took advantage of a big second-half to defeat the Dragons of Lane College 42-14 on Saturday. The Dragons (2-2 overall 0-1 SIAC) trailed at halftime 15-14.

The Dragons scored both of their touchdowns in the second quarter on passes from Quarterback Chris Rini. With 14:54 on the clock, Rini connected with Bradley Landrum on a six-yard pass for the first touchdown tying the score 7-7. The Golden Tigers would answer with a touchdown on a 14-yard pass from Justin Nared to Marque Gardner for the go-ahead score. A botched extra-point attempt allowed Travis Hawkins to scoop up the ball and carry it in to the end-zone for a two-point conversion.

The Dragons would put together a 13-play, 77-yard drive with 1:10 left on the clock to pull within one point for a 15-14 halftime score. The second-half was all Golden Tigers as they scored two touchdowns in each of the third and fourth quarters to pull away from the Dragons.

Rini was 27 of 36 for 203 yards passing with two touchdowns. Senior running back Eric Knowlton collected 40 yards rushing on nine carries, while also hauling in nine passes for 44 yards. Defensively for the Dragons, Dewayne Brown led the team with ten tackles.

The Dragons travel to Tuscaloosa, AL for their second SIAC Divisional contest against the Stillman Tigers on October 5. Game time in Tuscaloosa is scheduled for 5 PM.
