Box Score Golden Bears Spoil Dragons Homecoming
Jackson, TN
“Quarterback Bradley Landrum is in the shot-gun formation, tosses one up to the left side,
Hollis Moore jumps, stays on his feet,
He-Could-Go-All-The-Way; Touchdown Dragons 79-yards!” This play brought the over-flow crowd to their feet as the Dragons tied the score 7-7 early in the first quarter of the 2012 Homecoming game.
The Dragons scored a go-ahead touchdown in the second quarter as
McKinsley Marbury connected with Moore (his 2
nd) on a 13-yard touchdown pass.
David Castillo booted the extra point giving the Dragons a 14-7 lead. With two minutes remaining in the first-half, Golden Bears' Quarterback David Thomas called his own number, and scampered in from 4 yards out for the game-tying (14-14) touchdown.
The third quarter did not produce favorable results for the Dragons as the Golden Bears scored a touchdown and a field goal to take a 24-14 lead. The Dragons were forced to punt on five possessions during the quarter leading to the ten-point lead. The fourth quarter was much like the third as the Golden Bears added a touchdown to extend the lead to 31-14. Marbury connected with Dragons receiver
Johnny Ivey mid-way of the quarter for a 53-yard touchdown pass. A bad snap on the extra point attempt created a missed extra point for a 31-20 score. The Golden Bears added a late touchdown for the final score of 38-20.
The Dragons used the two quarterback system (Landrum & Marbury) which combined for 358 total yards offensively (290 passing, 68 rushing).
Hollis Moore led the receiving group with 7 receptions for 106-yards and 2 touchdowns.
Johnny Ivey hauled in 4 passes for 86 yards and 1 touchdown. For the Defensive unit,
Paris Hopper and Mike Todd led all tacklers with 10 tackles each.
Antwon Freeman and Mike Ruffin each collected an interception for the Dragons.
