Celebration after a Big Tackle!
Box Score Dragons Win another Game on the Road
Valley, AL
The Dragons blitzed to an early 14-0 first-half lead, but was forced to hold on in the second half to defeat the Point University Skyhawks 16-10. The victory now has the Dragons with a 3-4 record heading into the homecoming game against the Golden Bears from Miles College.

On the second possession for the Dragons, the “M & M Connection” of (QB) McKinsley Marbury, and (RB) Malcolm Morris combined for a 49-yard grab and go for the first touchdown. David Castillo would add the extra point for a 7-0 Dragons lead. With time running out in the second quarter, Bradley Landrum scored from 4 yards out for the second score of the half. Castillo stayed on target as he sent the extra point through the uprights for a 14-0 halftime lead for the Dragons.

The Skyhawks won the coin toss to open the game and elected to get the ball first in the second half. It would not take long for the Skyhawks to make that decision pay off. Quarterback Devon Thames connected with Wide-Receiver Anthony Armstrong for a 61-yard touchdown. The extra point was good and the Skyhawks closed the gap to 14-7 early in the third quarter.

A quick 4-and-out series for the Dragons set the Skyhawks up deep in their own territory. The defensive unit for the Dragons took advantage of this opportunity as Gilbert Fernandez and Marcus Huntley broke through the line and crushed Thames in the end zone for a sack (safety) and a 16-7 Dragons lead. The Skyhawks chipped away once again adding a 28-yard field goal in the 4th quarter for a final score of 16-10.

The Dragons were led on offense by quarterbacks Marbury and Landrum as the two combined for 267 yards of total offense and 2 touchdowns.  For the Defense, Corey Jones collected 13 tackles, 2 quarterback hurries, and a quarterback sack. Paris Hopper collected 9 tackles, and an interception. Marcus Huntley added 2.5 quarterback sacks along with 2 QBHs. Jack Howard also added to his team-leading interception count giving him 3 on the season.

The Dragons will host the Golden Bears from Miles College on October 20, for Homecoming 2012. Kickoff for this game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
