Dragons Fall To Lions In Overtime
            The Paine College Lions connected with a three-pointer as time ran out in regulation to send the exciting game into overtime. The Dragons were leading 70-67 with 6.4 seconds left in the game, before the Lions' Allen Young drained a three-point shot from the left side of the court to send the game into overtime. The Dragons came out from the opening tip-off playing hard and aggressive basketball looking for their first victory of the season. After the end of the first half the Dragons were tied with the Lions 38-38 while shooting 43.8% from the field.
            The second half action was more of the same for the Dragons. They created nine turnovers and collected ten fouls. Both teams would swap the lead in the game during the second half. The Dragons were up by one, 68-67, with 24 seconds left in the game. After the Lions called a time out, the scene was set for one last play. That shot was blocked by the Dragons' Ashton Patton and the Lions immediately fouled the Dragons' Tony Paine. Paine connected for two free throws, putting the Dragons up by three with 6.4 seconds left. A Dragons time out was then called to set up the defense for one last play. However, the Lions also set up their play and were able to find the open man on the left side, for the game tying basket. The five minute overtime period allowed the Lions to outscore the Dragons 10-7 for the 80-77 victory. The Dragons were led in scoring by Tony Payne with 20 points, and Nick Jones with 15 points. The Dragons take to the road for the next two games as they face the Panthers from Clark Atlanta on January 12 and the Maroon Tigers from Morehouse College on January 14.
