Kedrick Hooks sacks the Quarterback for a 16-yard loss.
Dragons Lose Homecoming Game.
After a disappointing over-time loss to the Benedict College Tigers the week before; the Dragons invited Miles College Golden Bears to town for their 2010 Homecoming Game. The Golden Bears converted a fumble recovery at the 3:03 mark in the first quarter into a touchdown for a 7-0 lead. The second quarter was a defensive battle for both teams as neither team was able to mount any type of scoring drive and the Bears went into half-time leading 7-0.
The Golden Bears received a short field on the kick-off as the ball went out of bounds at the Dragons 47 yard line to start the second half. With only 1 minute 38 seconds gone off the clock; the Bears Fernando Pitts, rushed for a 5-yard touchdown and a 14-0 lead. On the next Dragons possession, a blocked punt set up the Golden Bears for another short field touchdown run. Jordan Lewis crossed the goal line on a 9-yard run to finish off a 5 play 34 yard drive. The extra point missed wide right for a 20-0 Bears lead.
The Dragons moved the ball 63 yards on the next possession, but was unable to convert the drive into points on the board. The Bears took over their next possession on their own 22 yard line. Kyle Hurt and Travis Terry stopped Pitts for a 4-yard loss on the second down rushing attempt. On the third down play, Kedric Hooks broke through for a sack and forced a fumble for a 16 yard loss, allowing Osener Sterling to recover the fumble for the Dragons in the end zone for a touchdown.
The Dragons had three possessions in the final quarter but were unable to put anymore points on the board for a final score of 20-6. Evan Yabu was the leading ground gainer for the Dragons with 44 yards on 6 carries. Alonza Moore led the defensive unit with 8 tackles on the day.
