ATLANTA, Ga. – The Lane College football team opened conference play on Saturday with a cross divisional contest against Clark Atlanta.

The Dragons raced out to a big lead early in the first quarter behind a pair of touchdown runs from Ike Brown and a receiving touchdown from Micah Grigsby off the arm of quarterback Tarik McKinzie.

Lane's first three drives totaled just eight plays over two minutes and forty-six seconds and covered 112 yards but resulted in three touchdowns and 21-0 lead for the visitors with 9:15 left in the first quarter.

The two teams went scoreless from there until late in the first half when the Panthers got on the board with an 11-yard touchdown reception by Jerry Drakar.

The Dragons bounced right back with a seven play, 72-yard drive that saw Mikhi Lyles catch a 30-yard touchdown pass from McKinzie to make the score 28-7 at the half.

The hosts added a pair of field goals in the third quarter before Lane iced the game in the fourth quarter with a seven play 79-yard drive capped off by a 5-yard score from Brown.

McKinzie finished the game 25-of-38 for 318 yards and two touchdowns.

Brown carried the ball 25 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns.

Virgil Young led the receivers with six catches for 101 yards.

Andrew Farmer had a big day on the defensive side of the ball. The senior had five tackles including 4.0 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks.

Jeremiah Brown had five tackles and an interception while Jeffrey Johnson led the defense with six tackles.

The Dragons will travel to Georgia next Saturday for a non-conference matchup with Fort Valley State. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 PM EST.
