JACKSON, Tenn. (January 7, 2019) - Less than four minutes into the second half, the Lane College men's basketball team found themselves down 15 points to the No. 11 team in all of Division II. A lot of teams in that circumstance would have folded, packed up and got ready for their rival Lemoyne-Owen this upcoming Saturday.
But not this year's squad. The Dragons slowly chipped away at Morehouse's lead cutting the margin to just four points thanks to a 3-pointer from guard
Terrace Holt with just 36 seconds remaining. But that was as close as they would come as the Maroon Tigers hit their free throws in the final minute to hold off Lane, 72-66 on Monday evening at J.F. Lane Gymnasium.
Holt finished with a team-high 16 points off a team-high 34 minutes of play. Jackson native
Daniel Hill also finished in double figures for the Dragons, knocking in 12 points while pulling in six rebounds. Hill also added three assists and a steal in the loss.
Lane College is now 5-3 in SIAC play. This weekend they travel to Memphis to take on SIAC rival Lemoyne-Owen College. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. or 20 minutes after the conclusion of the women's contest.
