MEMPHIS, Tenn. (January 12, 2019) - Falling behind 12-2 to start the game and trailing by 14 at the half, the Lane College men's basketball team had a large hurdle to overcome when they took the floor for the final 20 minutes Saturday night in Memphis. Even worse, they were playing on arguably the most hostile court they play on all year long at SIAC rival Lemoyne-Owen College in South Memphis.
But those factors did not phase this Dragons' squad as they slowly chipped away at that deficit to take their first lead of the night, just eight minutes into the final frame. They would lead by as many as six thanks to back-to-back 3-pointers from
Kendarius Ash and
Ai'Shontis Sanders and had a one-point lead with six seconds left after
Lucious Brown drove to the basket and laid it in. But, in the end, it was the Magicians who made the final shot as time expired to take the win, 70-69 Saturday night.
Ash finished with a game-high 25 points ans 22 rebounds while
Terrace Holt also outscored everyone else on the floor with 20 points.
The Dragons are back in action this Saturday when they host conference foe Miles College. Tip off from J.F. Lane Gymnasium is scheduled for 4 p.m.
