Late Fouls Cause Lane Loss

FORT VALLEY, Ga. (January 2, 2019) - Fouls were a problem for the Lane College Lady Dragons on Wednesday afternoon as four players reached their limit in the final five minutes of regulation as Lane fell to host Fort Valley State University, 50-44 in Fort Valley, Georgia.

The Lady Dragons outscored the Lady Wildcats 10-9 in the first ten minutes but trailed by a point going into the locker room. Lane retook the lead coming out of the locker room and held a slim, one-point advantage going into the final frame.

The Lady Dragons stretched the lead to four multiple times, the last one coming thanks to a buzzer-beating three pointer from senior guard Antrice McCoy with 1:28 remaining. But, with the game tied at 44 with less than a minute remaining, a steal and fast break lay-up would give the Lady Wildcats their final lead of the night as they would pull away to pick up their second conference win of the season, dropping Lane to 3-3 in conference play.

Freshman guard Breaunna Burks led Lane with ten points adding three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Alexis Harris had eight points and eight rebounds while Addie McNeely dropped in seven points.

The women return home this weekend as they host Clark-Atlanta at 2 p.m. this Saturday at J.F. Lane Gymnasium.  Â
