ALBANY, Ga. (December 31, 2018) - Foul trouble was a problem for the visiting Lane College Dragons, especially in the second half as the Host Albany State Golden Rams stepped to the free throw line 19 more times as the host Rams picked up the conference win over Lane 68-63 on Monday afternoon in Albany, Georgia. The Dragons were called for 28 personal fouls while the Rams were only flagged for infractions 19 times.
Lane slowly built a double digit lead in the first half, leading 34-24 going into the break. But Albany State slowly chipped away at that lead during the final 20 minutes, taking their first lead of the contest 52-51 with 4:18 left. Two free throws by senior forward
Kendarius Ash cut the lead back to one with 2:49 left but Albany State would make their final six from the charity stripe to secure the win.
Ash led Lane with 17 points and seven rebounds while
LaJustin Anderson adding 13 points, four rebounds and two steals.
Lew Johnson dropped in 10 points and
Terrace Holt had nine.
The Dragons are back in action this Wednesday when they head to Fort Valley State to take on the Wildcats. Tip off is scheduled for 8 p.m. EST.
