Dragons claim another SIAC win over FVSU

JACKSON, Tenn. - Lane College secured a 63-50 SIAC victory over Fort Valley State University on Wednesday evening, improving to 17-5 overall and 16-5 in conference play.

Lane set the tone early, racing out to a 16-9 first-quarter lead and never looking back. The Dragons controlled the tempo from the opening minutes, forcing turnovers and converting in transition to build a double-digit advantage before halftime. A 15-12 edge in the second quarter gave Lane a 31-21 cushion at the break .

The third quarter proved pivotal as Lane extended the lead behind balanced scoring and aggressive defense. The Dragons outscored Fort Valley State 15-11 in the period to take a 46-32 advantage into the final frame . From there, Lane maintained control, closing out the 13-point win.

Lane shot 40.4 percent from the field and knocked down 14-of-21 free throws, while also forcing 24 turnovers that led to 18 points . The Dragons dominated in transition with 22 fast-break points and held a 36-32 edge in points in the paint .

Alexis Rowe led the way with 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds, adding six assists in an all-around performance. Lauren Lain also scored 13 points, while Europe Brown contributed 12 points and four rebounds. Dyani Bernstine added nine points and five rebounds, and Kamil Washum chipped in six points, including two three-pointers .

Lane's depth was also key, with 10 bench points and contributions across the roster helping the Dragons maintain momentum throughout the contest .

With the win, Lane continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of SIAC play.
