JACKSON, Tenn. — Lane College earned a hard-fought 64–59 SIAC victory over Spring Hill College on Saturday afternoon at J.F. Lane Gymnasium, improving to 8–1 overall and 7–1 in conference play.
The contest featured seven ties and nine lead changes, with neither team leading by more than a handful of possessions throughout the afternoon. Spring Hill held a slim advantage after the first quarter (17–14) and carried a 30–28 lead into halftime.
Lane began to seize momentum in the third quarter, outscoring Spring Hill 18–14 to take a 46–44 edge into the final period. The Dragons leaned on defensive pressure and points in the paint down the stretch, forcing key turnovers and converting at the free-throw line late to secure the win.
Dyani Bernstine led all scorers with a game-high 24 points, shooting an efficient 9-of-13 from the field and knocking down 6-of-7 free throws. She added four steals and was instrumental in closing out the game at the line. Lauren Lain and Europe Brown chipped in eight points apiece, while Kameria Piggee provided six points off the bench.
Lane finished with a 42–32 advantage in points in the paint and scored 30 points off turnovers, helping overcome a 0-for-5 performance from three-point range.
Spring Hill was led by Madison Dowling's 16 points and seven rebounds, while Ta'Myla Allen added 13 points and five assists. Despite shooting 47.7 percent from the field, Spring Hill struggled at the free-throw line, converting just 13-of-24 attempts.
