Softball sweeps Oakwood

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Lane College softball team hosted Oakwood University on Friday at the West Tennessee Sportsplex, sweeping the Ambassadors and moving to 5-1 on the season.

The Dragons' defense and pitching staff played lights out, allowing just three hits over two games and giving up no earned runs.

Reigning Pitcher of the Week Jersey Cabana (2-1) picked up the win in game one, going 5.0 innings and allowing one hit while striking out 11 batters.

Sophomore Autumn Phillips (3-0) earned the victory in game two. The Harriman, Tenn. native pitched a complete game and struck out nine batters.

Millay Lambert, who was SIAC Player of the Week, reached base all six times she came to the plate.

Freshman Ava Mearideth was 2-for-2 in game one including a two RBI double in the 3rd inning while designated player Kaylee Stinnett was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Lane is back home on Tuesday, February 21st, when they host Arkansas Baptist in a doubleheader beginning at noon.
