HENDERSON, Tenn. | The Lane College volleyball team took the short drive down highway 45 over the weekend to compete in the Freed-Hardeman Invitational.

The Dragons picked up two wins including the program's first ever victory of the Lions of Freed-Hardeman.

After dropping the first set 25-23, Lane rallied to win the next two sets 25-17 and 25-23.

The hosts bounced back to force a fifth and deciding set with a 25-19 win in set four.

Lane jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the final frame, forcing a timeout from the Lions. FHU won the next two points before the Dragons went on a 5-0 and forced another timeout with the score 10-3.

Freed-Hardeman mounted a rally of their own, but never came closer than four points as the Dragons closed out the game 15-10 on a kill from Maia Thompson.

Bre'elle Hawkins led Lane with nine kills. Kyra Gaston accounted for 7.5 points on five kills and 2.5 blocks. Thompson finished with six kills.

Jazmyne Jones was named to the All-Tournament team. She collected 67 assists over four games.

Lane will be at home this Thursday, September 8th, when they host Henderson State at 6:00 PM.
