Dragons down Benedict behind Simmons' double-double

JACKSON, Tenn. – The Lane College women's basketball team hosted Benedict College on Wednesday evening at J.F. Lane Gymnasium.
 
  • Lane picked up their third straight conference win
  • The win moves the Dragons into 1st place in the SIAC Western Division
  • The loss was Benedict's first conference loss of the season
  • Benedict scored first a minute into the game; it would be their only lead of the contest
  • Kayla Simmons led all scorers with 19 points; also collected 12 rebounds
  • Brailyn Tate finished with 12 points and seven rebounds off the bench for Lane
  • Iitasha Paty scored 10 points for Lane
 
Lane will travel to Savannah, Ga., on Saturday for a matchup with cross-divisional rival Savannah State. Game time is set for 1:00 PM EST.
