Lane routs Tuskegee in Nashville

NASHVILLE, Tenn. | The Lane College baseball team took part in the Music City Diamond Classic on Saturday against Tuskegee University at First Horizon Park.
 
Lane (8-14) wasted no time getting on the board as the Dragons scored in each of their first three at-bats, including a three run third inning highlighted by an RBI double from Kalum Banks.
 
The teams traded scoreless innings until Lane again posted a three spot in the seventh inning behind RBI singles from Banks, Javien Woods, and Jahneal Armstrong.
 
Chris O'Neal rounded out the scoring with a solo home run in the eighth inning.
 
Thomas Arias (2-2) earned the win in 8.0 innings of dominate work. Arias, who did not allow a hit until the fourth inning, surrendered only one hit and struck out five batters.
 
Banks finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs.
 
The two teams will play again on Sunday in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm. Prior to the game, Lane will honor the 2021 Seniors as well as the 2020 HBCU National Championship team. Additionally, the Dragons will be retiring the jersey of the late Courtney Joyner.
