Volleyball wins on Senior Night

by Joel Worthington

JACKSON, Tenn. - The Lane College volleyball team honored its three seniors on Thursday night and celebrated head coach Jacqueline Stewart's final regular season game at the helm for the Dragons.

After dropping the first set, the hosts raced out to early leads in the next three and downed the visiting Owls of Mississippi University for Women, 3-1.

Bre'elle Hawkins paced the Lane attack with 30 kills in 59 attempts. Jazmyne Jones collected a team-high 24 assists while Maia Thompson added 13 points.

Coach Stewart announced this week that it will be her final season as the head coach of the Dragons volleyball program. She leaves as the winningest coach in program history. However, before she steps away, Lane will compete in the 2021 SIAC Championship Tournament in South Carolina later this month. It will be the first appearance for Lane in the conference tournament since 2017.
