MOBILE, Ala. (January 31, 2019) - Nine players scored and five finished in double-figures as Lane College head men's basketball coach used a balanced attack scoring Thursday night as the Dragons blew out host Spring Hill College, 81-68. Even though the eventual margin of victory was barely double-digits, the Badgers made the game look closer than it was well long after the game was out of reach as Lane led by as many as 25 midway through the second half to improve to 9-5 in SIAC play.
Reaching the quarter century lead with 9:38 left to play thanks to a pair of made free throws from senior forward
Kendarius Ash, the Dragons cruised while the Badgers scrambled to catch up, eventually chipping away at the lead to cut it to 10 with just 1:15 remaining before three straight free throws from Ash sealed the game.
Ash finished with a team-high 19 points and seven rebounds, along with three assists, two blocks and two steals.
Dante Mitchell finished with a season-high 14 points nad five rebounds in 19 minutes. De'marik Brown finished with 12 points, four rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes, all career-bests for the newcomer from North Little Rock.
Terrace Holt and
Brandon Dansoh, both playing limited minutes, dropped in 10 points apiece.
The Dragons are back in action this Saturday when they play Game No. 4 of the five game road trip at Tuskegee University. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m. CST.
