BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (February 27, 2018) - The Lady Dragons fell into a deep hole early but fought their way back in the opening round of the SIAC basketball tournament Tuesday afternoon in Birmingham, Ala. Trailing by 24 points at halftime and as many as 28 in the third quarter, Lane made a big run late to cut the Claflin lead to 10 points with 3:23 left to play but that was as close as they would come as the Lady Panthers ended the Lady Dragons' season 68-51.

Sophomore guard Destiny Irvin led the team in scoring, finishing with 18 points thanks to a 6-for-12 shooting performance from three point range.

Antrice McCoy and Mariah Hopkins both added 10 points apiece. Hopkins, playing in her last game for Lane College, finished her career with a double-double, pulling in 12 rebounds.
